Recently, someone approached me at an industry conference and asked me an interesting question: "As an industry veteran (which is a nice way of saying you're pretty old) what's the most important advice you could offer to an individual or a company that is serious about becoming a world-class shipper?" It didn't take me long to respond because based on experience I know that the journey to becoming a world-class shipper starts with a very easy question that is very difficult to ask. Specifically, if you want to become a world-class shipper then you need to be able to ask this question: "Can you help me?" Why is this such a difficult question? Because folks let's face it, very few people are willing to admit that maybe, just maybe, they don't have all the answers. So it can be difficult  to recognize that there are people who can amplify your strengths or provide resources that can help you build a better organization.

For example, we have a white paper that talks about how you can become a preferred shipper by being carrier-friendly. Another great resource is the Good Practices Guide that was recently created by the National Industrial Transportation League.

One of the reasons that I am proud to belong to great organizations like the NIT League, NASSTRAC, CSCMP, TIA and other industry associations is because the members have a great degree of experience and expertise that they're willing to share with other members. You can get personalized, one-on-one help that can be invaluable on your journey to becoming a world-class shipper. We encourage you to consider these options and if you'd like to get in touch with us and discuss the kind of cost saving opportunities that are available in your transportation area, give us a call at 630-833-0890 or send us an email. We love providing insight and we’ll get right back to you.

We're on your team, we're here to help, and we're passionate about seeing you be successful.
