We recently saw an article from our friends at Stifel that talked about the kind of industry changes that we’ve discussed in recent Two Minute Warnings. There are warning signs that a supply chain storm could be coming with significantly high rates in 2017 as the Stifel report notes. Small carriers are being driven out of business, large carriers are tightening up capacity, electronic logging devices are rolling on, and other changes are reducing any excess capacity among carriers. That is why smart shippers are looking to lock in lower rates now.
Are you ready to take action? Sitting back and hoping it doesn't happen to you isn’t a good option. Before there is a capacity crisis, ask yourself this question: is there opportunity to achieve savings by conducting a sourcing event right now?
If you’re ready to get ahead of the curve, start by benchmarking your rates.
