Lately, I have been reading several articles that address the topic of supply chain risk. So when I was speaking at the University of San Diego's Supply Chain Symposium last week, I had the attendees think about the following scenario: Assume for a moment that your CEO, company President or COO walks into your office and asks to see a list of things which could create disruptions in your company’s supply chain. If your answer is, "I don't have a list" or "I don't know what those issues are" you could have a problem. That's why we encourage you to take a look at what's on the horizon and prepare a list. And for those of you who are thinking that this is an abstract issue, look at what happened to Toyota after last week's devastating earthquakes - they shut down production because they couldn't get supports.
