The 2:00 Minute Warning with Mike Regan

How Will the Tariffs and De Minimis Issues Impact Your Company

There is no shortage of major changes and challenges for the logistics industry this year. Whether it is the imposition of tariffs, the removal of the de minimis exemptions for all countries, or the ongoing freight recession, there is a pervasive sea of uncertainty that has people wondering: “What do we do now?”

For example, recently when I was having a conversation with the CEO of a sizeable company he made a stunning admission: “When it comes to this tariff and de minimis stuff it’s like we’re floating around in uncharted waters and I’m concerned because I know there are some icebergs there that could potentially damage our ship.”

If you can relate to those comments or just are concerned about constantly changing tariffs, the ending of de minimis exemption, or the potential for other logistics and supply chain disruptions and serious cost escalation, then we have great news!

On September 23 at 11am Central, TranzAct will be hosting an extremely important tariff webinar with our friends from the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) and CSCMP.

As you consider whether you should get signed up for this webcast, may I share a great and relevant quote from Carl Sagan: “The dangers of not thinking clearly are much greater now than ever before. It's not that there's something new in our way of thinking - it's that credulous and confused thinking can be much more lethal in ways it was never before."

Here is our promise to you. This webcast will help shippers think much more clearly about how your company can manage the tariff and de minimis issues.

Beyond providing a timely update on the current tariffs in effect, our panelists will be laser focused on the steps your company could or should be taking to avoid hitting the proverbial icebergs in these uncharted waters.

What are some of the tools shippers can use to manage these changes more effectively? Is reshoring or near-shoring a viable option in adjusting your supply chain? Our panel will address these and other important issues.

They will also share insights about how companies can prepare for a tomorrow where they can reduce the risk associated with their supply chains. That’s why we hope you’ll join us for the webinar and invite others on your team who could benefit.

Before leaving, I want to share some other important resources to bring to your attention.

First, a couple of weeks ago, my friend Jeff Berman from Logistics Management interviewed me on a podcast about what’s going on in the transportation industry. We’ve heard great reviews from people who listened and I’d welcome hearing your thoughts.

Second, on October 5 – 8 there are two outstanding conferences that will be filled with great content to help manage your transportation and supply chain areas. CSCMP is having their annual conference in National Harbor, MD on October 5-8. Nearby, NITL is having their annual summit in Washington DC on October 6-8.

With two great events overlapping, which one do you attend? If you can only choose one, the CSCMP conference will be more focused on global supply chain issues while NITL summit is going to be focused on domestic and international transportation issues that affect your freight budget. I’ll be attending both and hope to cross paths.

If you’d like to meet at these events, give me a call at 630-833-0890 Ext 190 or send me an email. And if you’d like to meet virtually another time, I encourage you to schedule a meeting with Calendly. I’m available to help answer any supply chain question you have and point you in the right direction.
