After the election results were in I received some questions about how Trump’s transportation policies will impact freight costs. The day after the election, I was on a panel discussion at the Journal of Commerce’s Inland Distribution Conference and the topic--which had been selected months in advance--dealt with how a new administration would affect transportation policies. One of my fellow panelists was Randy Mullett, a Washington-based expert on the relationship between government and transportation.

Interview with Randy Mullett

Randy  is the head of Mullett strategies, has been on numerous industry boards and has a keen eye for understanding how policies get converted into actions. In this interview he talks about infrastructure, the FMCSA, and other issues that will impact shippers.

After our panel finished, several people came up to us and suggested that a lot of shippers would be interested in the topics we discussed. So I asked Randy if he would do an On The Record interview with us so he could share his insights about some of the possible implications of how the Department of Transportation may look with this new Administration. Randy also talked about transportation infrastructure and some of the issues affecting trade policy.

I encourage you to listen to this podcast and I would welcome your thoughts about the topics that Randy covered.
