In planning for the future in transportation, you need to consider these two questions.

I recently attended a breakfast with famed political consultant David Axelrod and Philip Revzin, who is a former publisher of the Wall Street Journal. There was a fascinating discussion as Mssrs. Axelrod and Rezvin shared their insights about what's going on in the United States as well as things that are happening on the international front.

One part of the presentation that really intrigued me was when they shared their advice about planning for the future. While their comments were based on geopolitical events, I think their advice is relevant for executives who are responsible for the transportation logistics and supply chain functions in their companies. Specifically, they noted that in planning for the future you need to ask two questions:

First, ask the “What if” questions. These are the questions about what could potentially be on the horizon, and allow you to consider multiple scenarios ranging from the "best case" to "worst case" scenarios.

Second, ask the “Then what” questions. Ask what happens if those scenarios actually become a reality.

At TranzAct, we have a process that does a great job of helping you ask, and answer the "What if" and "Then what" questions and that is why companies have found it to be an effective tool for analyzing their transportation strategies. Our Rapid Assessment Study brings both of these questions into play and can be an effective tool in helping you plan for your future.

P.S. As a diehard White Sox fan, I had to adopt a Swiss-based stance of neutrality so that we could see the Cubs on their way to their historic World Series championship. So my Cubs fan associates decided to decorate my office to commemorate the event. A lot of happy folks here at TranzAct! Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs!
