One of the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis is that it has exposed some fault lines in corporate supply chains. And this has resulted in disruptions that nobody thought could happen.
That’s why I’ve been receiving “What’s wrong with my supply chain?” type questions throughout the pandemic.
The advice I often give in response to these questions is “Look in the mirror!” The reason for this response is because while many C-Suite executives say that having a good supply chain is important, truth be told, they aren’t making the kind of investments that need to be made in order to build a great supply chain. They aren’t investing in this part of the business, but they are still expecting everything to be optimal.
If your competitors have a mediocre supply chain, you too can have one. But if you compete against companies like Amazon, average isn’t going to cut it.
If you’re interested in building a world-class supply chain, one thing you can do is to attend CSCMP’s virtual conference this September. We also encourage you to take a look at our resources.
