In last week’s Two Minute Warning we alerted shippers to the fact that with the U.S. Supreme Court declining to hear the case involving AB 5, shippers should expect to see significant increases in the rates for drayage moves. But there is more, much more for a piece of legislation that many shippers knew little about.
We also highlighted the fact that with the contract between the PMA and the ILWU having ended July 1, all eyes are on the negotiations that will have an impact on operations at the West Coast ports. Since this affects two of our largest ports, Los Angeles and Long Beach, any slow down or worse, shut down, could affect a whole bunch of supply chains.
After the Two Minute Warning, we received a ton of questions about AB 5 and the port negotiations. In response we’ll be hosting a webinar on Wednesday July 20th at 11am Central about what AB 5 means for supply chains and also provide an update on the contract negotiations at the West Coast ports.
This webinar will provide important updates and advice for anyone who works in the logistics industry and supply chain space and is being hosted in conjunction with our friends from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL).
Here are the resources you will be hearing from:
• Karyn Booth, Partner and Chair of the Transportation Practice, Thompson Hine LLP
• Peter Tirschwell, VP of Maritime & Trade, IHS Markit
• Matt Schrap, CEO, Harbor Trucking Association
I have no idea what you and your team will be doing next Wednesday at 11am CT, but I can guarantee we have some great resources who will be addressing some extremely important issues. And in case you sign up for the webinar and find that you cannot attend, you'll still receive a link for the replay.
As always we’ll also provide the opportunity for you to ask your own questions beforehand or during our time together.
