Giving thanks with an attitude of gratitude!

Nov 22, 2016

Recently I was reading an article that highlighted the benefits of being thankful and having an attitude of gratitude. It turns out that it's good for your brain and also really good for your heart. Since we all want a great brain and a healthy heart, we want to take this opportunity to say thanks! Whether its the great country we live in, our families, friends, customers, or the viewers of these Two Minute warnings, we're thankful for the opportunity to be around great people in our lives.

In this week’s video, I share a story that some of you haven't heard me share before. Several years ago when I was at one of my kid's parent teacher conferences, I asked the teacher what they were teaching the kids about the true meaning of Thanksgiving. After she gave me a very nice and politically correct answer, I nodded and then asked, "Who were the Pilgrims giving thanks to?" As we like to point out in our Thanksgiving letter, the Pilgrims were giving thanks to God. And in 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, when President Lincoln officially declared the last Thursday of November to be a national holiday, he did it so that we could take time out to acknowledge and give thanks to God for his abundant blessings.

It was a good idea in 1863; it's an even better idea in 2016.

From our family to yours, have a happy Thanksgiving. (I'll send my annual Thanksgiving letter to you tomorrow, but you can preview it here if you would like).
