When it comes to dealing with tariffs, LTL, TL, parcel and other supply chain challenges, what's your solution?
Apr 30, 2025
This week, as a departure from our usual logistics updates, I'd like to share an interesting conversation I had with a friend who is also the CEO of a good size company that is dealing with some important supply chain issues. Some of his executives get these Two Minute Warnings, have attended some of our recent webcasts, and are familiar with TranzAct.
He shared with me, “Mike, I was having a discussion with my team about our supply chain, tariffs and other critical transportation issues. During the discussion one of my executives brought up TranzAct and then asked some interesting questions: What does TranzAct do? Second, can TranzAct help us right now in navigating these uncharted waters?”
Thankfully, that was an easy question for me. I replied, “On the surface, TranzAct is known for having great freight audit and payment capabilities, an outstanding TMS, predictive analytic tools, a wonderful consulting group, and a managed service LTL area where we get to use our excellent knowledge of pricing and rates to help shippers lower their costs and save money.”
He was surprised when I then noted that “Having said all that, I’m not sure if your company really needs TranzAct.” I went on to explain that having recently talked to one of his executives, I knew that they didn't have any written plans on how to manage their supply chains, tariffs or LTL costs.
Since he's a good friend, I was able to tease and challenge him by suggesting that perhaps his company doesn’t need great resources like TranzAct to help them lower costs and improve their supply chain processes. Being a bit sarcastic, I told him that: “Perhaps your supply chain team likes having lots of stress, being frequently ‘surprised’ and loves having to be reactive and constantly operating in fire fighting mode as they scramble to 'fix' your company’s supply chain issues."
But just in case they want to reduce their stress, eliminate surprises and be more proactive in managing your company’s supply chain, then TranzAct can definitely help you out. TranzAct works best with companies who are serious about implementing logistics and supply chain solutions that lower costs and improve their bottom lines.
Most CEOs and Presidents tell me that their supply chains are critically important to their business. So they want to have a very good supply chain. But actions speak louder than words. As an action oriented company, TranzAct has great solutions and a team of experts who are loaded with experience and can partner with customers to build stronger supply chains. And for those who are customers, I want to pause and thank you for taking part with us in navigating your supply chain and encourage you to reach out if we can provide further support.
When he then asked: "What do we need to do if we want a great supply chain?" I suggested that he should keep doing what he is doing now. Reach out and ask for guidance and help. When companies are truly committed to getting better, TranzAct is a great partner to work with!
Before leaving, if you’re reading this Two Minute Warning and want to know what’s happening in the market, I encourage you to check out our April 2025 Freight Market Update.
