DOT Releases Status Update for Significant Rulemakings

Last week, the Department of Transportation (DOT) released their September status update of the significant rulemakings the Department is undertaking. TIA will be tracking and taking necessary actions on the following rulemakings:

1. Carrier Safety Fitness Determination (SFD), which links the CSA BASIC scores with a motor carrier’s safety rating – scheduled to be published for comment on Feb. 10, 2015.

2. MAP-21 Enhancements to the Unified Registration System (URS), which includes registration fees for brokers, unique authority identifiers, prohibition of transfers of operation authority, etc. – Scheduled to be published for comment on July 7, 2015.

3. Motor Carrier Minimum Insurance Requirements, which will seek to increase the minimum insurance a motor carrier is required to carry – Scheduled to be published for comment on Oct. 22, 2014.
