Want a Great Supply Chain? Then Tear Down the Silos! [Part 1]
Oct 2, 2019
What is the one attribute that companies have in common when it comes to managing logistics, and building great supply chains? They adopt a holistic view of their supply chain. And when viewed holistically, companies understand and are committed to breaking down organizational silos—whether they're between departments, divisions, or any other areas that keep a supply chain from functioning in full sync.
Watch this one minute video to hear why we’re so passionate about this topic.
In the aftermath of the Perfect Storm and its impact on transportation costs, C-Level executives have new and different expectations about how their companies need to be managing their transportation costs. In order to meet those expectations, companies are looking at how different functional areas (e.g. procurement, sales, operations, and IT) can work together to have an effective and efficient supply chain. In other words, they move beyond silos to address the growing complexity of supply chains and the rising expectations of consumers for speed and visibility.
Since there’s a lot more to cover on this topic, we teamed up with CSCMP and NASSTRAC to host a new webinar called “Busting down the silos” on October 17 at 11am CDT and you can sign up here.
To give you a better idea of what you’ll hear during the webinar, you can watch an interview with Mitch MacDonald of Supply Chain Digest that touches on the concepts we’re excited to cover.
In the meantime, we encourage you to take advantage of some of the resources we recently shared about building a great transportation budget in 2020 if you haven’t already:
