FMCSA Removes Phone Numbers from SAFER

As of May 1, 2017, and in response to the fraudulent activity concerns of criminals changing the phone numbers of motor carriers in the online Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (SAFER) System, the FMCSA Agency has removed all phone numbers from the database, while they implement another layer of security.

This has made the job of selecting motor carriers more difficult to confirm identity for those legitimate carriers.

You can still access a motor carrier’s phone number through the Safety Measurement System online website. Please be aware the website is often times down due to heavy user traffic.

  • Simply enter the motor carrier’s information in the search box on the top right side of the page.
    Once on the carrier’s page, scroll down below the BASIC categories to “Carrier Registration” and click on “Carrier Registration Details.”
  • The motor carrier’s information will populate, including the phone number associated with it.
    TIA will continue to update its members on any further changes and when it is corrected within the system.
