Long before logistics was a recognized profession, Lillie Drennan was steering a truck down America's roughest roads—quite literally. In 1929, she became the first woman in the U.S. to hold a commercial truck driver’s license, shattering gender barriers in freight transportation.
When people think of Amelia Earhart, they often picture the fearless pilot who vanished mysteriously over the Pacific. But beyond the legend, Earhart was a pioneering force in shaping the modern concept of global logistics and transportation, demonstrating how aviation could shrink the world.
The supply chain keeps getting more challenging to navigate. In the past few years, logistics professionals have dealt with a significant escalation in rates, delays from packed ports, and labor shortages across the industry, amongst other issues.

Amazon recently introduced a new logistics service for their third party sellers. The new service allows third parties to order an Amazon truck to pick up their shipments and bring them to Amazon’s fulfillment center, rather than shipping them to Amazon themselves. This could mean extra business for Amazon’s fleet of roughly 6,000 trucks and is another signal that they will continue to increase their involvement in logistics.
